STOCK MARKET UPDATES:26/08/2020
- Nifty gained 77.35 points, ending at 11,549.60 while Sensex gained 230.04 points, ending at 39,073.92.
- State-Owned engineering and construction firm Ircon International Ltd. Reported a net profit of Rs. 34.46 crore in Q1 June 2020.
- Gillette India Ltd. Reported net loss by 1.85% of Rs. 44.97 crore in Q1 June 2020.
- Punjab National Bank(PNB) share prices went up by a percentage, after the bank announced having received $3.25 million as the first tranche of recoveries and reported it to the Ministry of Corporate Affairs(MCA) on 25th August 2020.
- Rupee settled 3 paise higher at a provisional 74.30 against the US Dollar with an intraday high of 74.24 and low of 74.46.
- Byju’s has been reported to have raised $122 million from DST Global at a valuation of $10 billion, allotting 42,666 Series F preference shares at issue price of RS 213,042.13/share for a 1.2% stake for DST Global.
- Reliance Chemotex Industries Ltd. announced a net loss of Rs. 1.43 crore in Q1 June 2020
- Jindal Stainless Ltd announced the decision of its board of directors on giving approval to raise up to Rs 162.8 crore through issuance of convertible equity warrants.
- SEBI imposed a fine of Rs 7 lakh on Suprajit Engineering Ltd and 3 individuals regarding violation of insider trading norms noticed between October 2014 to June 2016.
- Vedanta moved to supreme court and challenge the madras high court decision regarding the reopen of Sterlite copper’s smelter unit in Thoothukudi.
- Dish TV announced a 2.09% fall in the shareholding of the promoter group firm Direct Media Distribution Ventures Pvt Ltd as due to selling off of 3.85 crore pledged promoters’ shares by lenders.
- Engineering firm JMC Projects rise by 11% due to securing of new orders worth Rs 554 crore, including a building project in South India amounting to Rs 315 crore and a factory project in Maharashtra worth Rs 239 crore.
- Tata Motors shares rose by 6% after announcement of its proposal for reduction of its debt to near-zero levels on 25th August 2020.

- Profit after tax of Q1, June 2020 for NMDC Limited went down by 55% to Rs 533 crore due to the adverse effect of COVID-19 on the production as well as sales.
- Pacific Alliance Group (PAG) made announcement of a strategic investment around Rs 2,200 crore in Edelweiss Wealth Management (EVM) for a stake of 51 percent.
- Silver prices went down to Rs 67,092 per kg by 2.77%, having gained 4.5% last week on the COMEX.
- Natural gas futures went down to Rs 189.40 per mmBtu, having declined by 0.8% on August 26 on Nymex.
- Rupee went up sharply by 48 paise, settling at 73.82 against the US dollar, with an intraday high of 73.81 and low of 74.36.
- Blue Star shares went up almost 3% after the company acquired an order for Mumbai Metro Line III worth Rs 149-crore.
- DilipBuildcon shares went up by 2% after a letter of acceptance for Rs 1,278 crore project in Karnataka was received by them, for a new HAM project.
- Indraprastha Gas(IGL) shares went down over a percent, landing the co. in red , after the company’s announcement of an 85.42% YOY fall in Q1FY21 net profit at 31.84 crore.
- Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL) share prices went down over 13% after govt. announced to sell the 15% stake of the company via offer for sale (OFS).
- ICICI Bank shares went up by a percent by Rs. 2.80 at Rs 392.15, touching an intraday high of Rs 394.25 and low of Rs 388.20, all after the bank announced its plans to sell up to 2% of its holding in ICICI Securities through an open market transaction.
- The 41st GST council meet inferred on an outcome of Rs. 2.35 lakh crore shortfall in GST revenues.
- Bank of India (BOI) announced plains of raising up to Rs 16,000 crore by issuing shares and bonds, that shall seek approval of shareholders at its Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) on September 19.
- IDFC Ltd. Reported net loss of Rs. 26.46 crore in Q1 June 2020.
- Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) reported consolidated net loss of Rs. 406.26 crore in Q1 June 2020.
- Credit Rating firm ICRA announced a net loss by 17% of Rs. 17.04 crore in Q1 June 2020.
- GMR Infrastructure Limited reported net loss of 834 crore in Q1 June 2020, that stands nearly doubled against the Rs336 crore loss in the previous corresponding fiscal year.
- Copper futures declined by 0.36% to Rs.519.10 per kg with an intraday high of Rs.523 and low of Rs.517.10 per kg on MCX.
- Sensex went up by 40 points, ending at 39,113 points while Nifty went up by 10 points, ending at 11,559 points.
